Dear Parents/Carers,

I hope this email finds you well.  This week was a busy week of sporting fixtures.  On Monday Dr Thomlinson U13 Boys played away at Ponteland Middle School.  The team did very well on a surface that had more resemblance to a swimming pool than a football pitch.  Goals from Duncan and Dominic meant the team performed well in a creditable 2-7 defeat against a strong team.

In slightly better weather our Girls KS3 Rugby players did very well in a competition against the Duchess; Richard Coates and Newminster.  The Year 7 Girls gained a draw and competed in two narrow defeats.  Well done to Martha; Milly, Megan and Lilly for scoring some impressive tries.  Our Year 8 girls had slightly better results recording wins against both of Newminster’s teams.  Eleanor; Anna; Niamh and Amelie were the team’s stand out performers.

Wednesday saw our cross-country runners take part in a very well attended festival of running at Mowden Hall.  The event was a cross-country relay with teams of two having to run the kilometre route.  Only once both runners crossed the finish line was the baton allowed to be handed to the next pair in the team.  Mr Heath was very impressed with the application and stamina of all those who took part.

At the time of writing this, our Under 11 Boys Football have still to play Richard Coates.  We will report their result next week.

Next week is an even busier week with our rescheduled World Book Day celebrations; Sport Relief and Come Dine & Quiz.

World Book Day is on March 22nd .  This year, we would like students to dress up their heads only as a character from a book; this could be with a hat, a wig, face paints, a mask or a head-dress etc.  They must wear school jumpers and polo shirts but can wear non-uniform trousers and shoes. There will be prizes for the Best Dressed in our special WBD Assembly. Students do not need to bring £1 for this.

The Librarians (and avid helpers in the Library) will be holding a cake sale so please bring in money for that.
