Northumberland County Council are currently consulting on sport and leisure facilities in Morpeth and we are interested in your views on the attached proposal to locate shared school and community sports facilities on the King Edward VI School site. KEVI is one of the only high schools in the country without these type of facilities.
The aim is to provide high quality sports facilities on the school site to enable a broad school sport curriculum, significant extra-curricular sports activities, improve access to sport for all abilities, a community sports hub for local clubs and a community sports centre for the growing local population.
Additional benefits would include
- a new vehicle entrance for the whole site to the North of the school which would improve road safety and congestion on Cottingwood Lane
- create space within the school to add classrooms that accommodate the growing student population in Morpeth
An outline feasibility study is available to view here; if the proposal were supported further consultation would be needed to develop the detail.
