The Trust is pleased to announce that Stobhillgate First School launched a consultation on 7th October to join the Three Rivers Learning Trust. This is a positive step in the further development of the Trust and we look forward to the consultation responses. If the proposal is supported then Stobhillgate would aim to join the Trust on the 1st April 2020. The consultation documents are available on the school website for anyone wishing to engage with the process. There will be a drop-in session which will be attended by the Stobhillgate Headteacher and Governors and representatives of The Three Rivers Learning Trust at 5.30pm in Stobhillgate First School on Tuesday 15th October.
The aim of this session is to hear views on the proposal and answer any questions. This consultation will close on Monday 4th November at 5pm.
Dear Parents & Carers,
I hope you’ve had a lovely week. The school is basking in glorious autumnal sunshine so reminding us all of the recent summer holidays that seem now all so fleeting.
We have had a very productive two and a half weeks back at school and all the staff have been very impressive with the excellent attitude and behaviour displayed by all our students – both new to the school and those returning for another exciting academic year.
Our students are being guided by our newly appointed House Captains.
Congratulations to:
Jenny & Elliot – House Captains for Aidan House
Molly; Skye and Olivia – House Captains for Bede House
Catalina and James – House Captains for Cuthbert House.
Our House Captains will be joined by two form representatives from each form. Well done to:
Maisie and Cameron in 5H
Nathan and Fran in 5T
Daniel and Lara in 6O
Edward and Polly in 6M
Leah and Luke in 7I
Molly and Jacob in 7L
Logan and Daisy in 8N
Noah and Isla in 8S
Both our House Captains and Form Representatives have been elected by their peers.
Our Year 5 form classes visited All Saints Church, Rothbury on Tuesday and Thursday morning as part of their work in Religious Education. Studying the unit – “What do churches show about what Christians believe in God?” they enjoyed a very useful morning looking around the church with Rev Peters.
Next week sees the beginning of our sporting fixtures with our U11 & U13 Boys football teams playing Glendale School at home on September 24th and our U13 Girls netball team playing Glendale.
Our U13 netball team are playing away to NCEA on September 25th and our Girls U11 Football team play Whittingham at home on September 26th. We wish all our teams the very best of luck – Parents are very welcome to come and support.
Thursday, September 26th is our annual open day. The school is open to visitors on the afternoon of September 26th from 1:30pm and is then open in the evening from 5:30pm – 7pm. The best thing about our school is our students and we are delighted that so many want to give up their evening to come and help out. Each child helping out with the evening will receive a letter and we ask parents and carers to return the letter giving their consent. We look forward to a lovely day. Thank you to all of those students prepared to give up their time.
Friday, 27th September from 10am is our Year 5 Parent/Carer Macmillan Coffee Morning. The event gives an opportunity for Year 5 Form Tutors to speak to the parents/carers of our new intake. We invite those attending the event to bring a cake (to share – if they so wish); raffle prizes and a modest allowance to purchase said items. Year 5 children whose parents are not able to attend will be attending the event so they may wish to come with some funds to help join the fund raising event money for such a worthy cause. We look forward to a lovely morning.
Our Thomlinson Outstanding Pupils Awards were awarded to the following pupils for best epitomising our core values of Hope and Endurance.
5T – James

Year 5 Macmillan Charity Coffee Morning – Friday 27 September 2019
We would like to invite you to a charity coffee morning for families of Year 5 pupils on Friday 27 September at 10.00 a.m. Form Tutors will be present giving you the opportunity to discuss how your child has settled into Dr Thomlinson Middle School, whilst enjoying refreshments and raising much needed funds for an extremely worthy cause.
There is no need to book in, just turn up. Why not bring a friend or a family member – the more the merrier!
Donations of cake, biscuits, scones or raffle prizes would be greatly appreciated and are needed for the event. If these could be sent into school with your child first thing in the morning of the event, we would be most grateful.
If you are unable to attend, your child can still take part and you can send a small donation in with them to buy some cake. (Please note this event is for Y5 children only).
If you would like more information on the Macmillan Coffee Morning fundraising event, or fancy trying a new recipe, please visit www.macmillan.org.uk where you can find lots of information and recipes.
