All are welcome to attend.
Dear Parents/Carers,
I hope this message finds you well. We have had a great week at Dr Thomlinson CofE Middle School.
Well done to our U11 Boys football team. They had done very well to reach the quarter final of the County Cup however luck deserted them in their 0-3 defeat away to Gosforth Central Middle School. Despite hitting the woodwork three times they lost in a game in which they more than held their own. Well done to the whole team for a great effort.
Well done to all those pupils who took part in the two performances at Dance City on Saturday, December 15th. Our dancers opened the show on both performances and Mr Heath was really impressed with the efforts of everyone involved.
Our students enjoyed a lovely Christmas Dinner on Wednesday, 19th December. I was really impressed with the range and variety of Christmas Jumpers on display – the school raised £156.
Wednesday, 19th December was also Dr Thomlinson’s got Talent. The evening’s eleven acts were those who had qualified from initial heats that contained over 30 different acts. We are always fortunate to have really talented pupils at Dr Thomlinson CofE Middle School and the night’s performances were no exception. There was singing; dancing; dancing comedy; comedy dancing; comedy & dance; dance & comedy and stand-up comedy! Well done to Luke who received a highly commended nomination from the judges. Third place was awarded to Elle; Jasmine and Isla; 2nd place went to Abbey and first place went to Lois. I was delighted that the event was so well attended. Thank you very much for all your support.
Thank you to all those who attended our Christmas Church Service on Thursday, 20th December. I was very impressed with the contribution of our choir; orchestra and readers to the success of the event.
The Friends of Dr Thomlinson’s would like to thank parents and carers for their incredible generosity in donating prizes to the Christmas raffle at the talent show and for supporting recent school events. We raised over £250 from the raffle and along with refreshment sales at the talent show and the recent film night have raised over £700 for the school in the past few weeks. All profits are spent on the school and recent spending has included Christmas decorations for the school, books for the 50 book challenge and termly awards for students. The Friends are currently in discussions to decide ways to spend the substantial current funds and are also looking for new members and volunteers. Any help from being on the committee through to half an hour at one event a year is most welcome and you are invited to an open meeting of the Friends at 5:30pm in the dining hall of the school on January 18th for those interested to know more or contribute ideas and fresh input. This immediately precedes the school disco at which the Friends will be selling refreshments and sweets to the party-goers. If you are unable to attend the meeting but would like to know more then please do contact [email protected] or the school office.
I hope you all have a lovely Christmas and we look forward to seeing everybody back at school on Monday, 7th January, 2019.
Take care,
Liam

Dear Parents/Carers,
I hope the email finds you well.
Well done to the U13 Boys Rugby team who won the Atlas Group Trophy in the U13 County Cup. The school drew against Bede Academy and beat Norham. Dan was the team’s most valuable player with an impressive three try haul in the team’s final match.
Our Yr. 8 team finished third in the Sports Hall Athletics Morpeth & Ponteland Competition. Well done to our Yr. 6 team who finished sixth.
Well done to Katie who played very well alongside her KS2 teammates in a Girls Premier League Football competition that Dr Thomlinson’s took part in on December 7th.
This week the school also entered the Indoor Rowing Local Heats for KS2 and KS3. James and Milly in KS3 recorded personal bests with two creditable fifth place finishes.
30 Yr. 5 & Yr. 6 children are taking part in the Shimmer Dance at Dance City tomorrow evening. The participants are meeting Mr. Heath at Dance City for rehearsals at 3pm and then taking part in shows at 5:30pm & 7:30pm. The children have been putting a lot of work into their rehearsals and we wish them luck with their performances – I am sure they will be brilliant!
Many congratulations to Frankie who has been picked for the Northumberland U13 cricket team.
